Programme Overview

The Enrolled Nurse Programme is a two-year competency-based training designed to develop skilled, ethical, and community-oriented nurses capable of providing quality healthcare across The Gambia. The programme integrates classroom instruction, clinical practice, and community fieldwork to ensure theory is effectively applied to practice.

Mission: To provide quality nursing education and training that embodies the aspirations of the Gambian people and global community through the creation, preservation, and application of nursing knowledge.

Programme Objectives

  • Deliver nursing care using scientific and nursing principles.
  • Provide curative, preventive, and rehabilitative care.
  • Plan and conduct community health education.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams and agencies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and students.
  • Participate in health research and professional development.
  • Uphold professional ethics and patient-centered care.
  • Contribute to healthcare management and policy implementation.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic: GCE O’ Level/WASSCE – Three credits including English, Mathematics, and a science subject.
  • Alternative: Two credits (English & Science) with two years of experience as a Nurse Attendant or Auxiliary Nurse.
  • Minimum Age: 18 years and above.
